Momo Mail #6 - Summer 2025 Edition

Hey friends, it's been a really long time! I finished up my tough courses last spring and have started working as a behaviour technician this summer. This summer, I've also had some time to spend time in the sunshine with friends, family, and loved ones. I entrust that all of you had a wonderful summer this year too.

Beyond work changes, this year has been a big change for me technologically! First off - no computer or tablet, I’ve been using just my phone this year and it's been going just fine. I don't think that the differences between having a dedicated computer are that large nowadays with the processing power that modern smartphones have. Some phones like mainline Samsung S phones even have options (Samsung DeX) that let you have an almost full desktop experience when connected to an external monitor with keyboard/mouse!

And yes, I typed this newsletter on my phone.

CMF Phone 2 Pro

I have also made the switch to Android from iOS in August. I really hadn't had too many problems with iOS, but I felt disdain towards Apple (not that I like Google any more) for a multitude of reasons including recent political gifts and planned obsolescence bogging down my 5 year old phone with the new iOS update. I bought the Nothing brand's CMF Phone 2 Pro ($279) and so far I’ve been really enjoying the switch. The weaknesses with the phone is definitely the camera (you can find a sample in the next section) and the mono speaker. Both operating systems have their strengths, so I think it's up to you to decide which one is better.

A Day in the Life

Balboa Botanical Building (Aug 24, 2025)

Hey! If you remember last year’s second issue, you may recognize the architecture in the photo above. The Botanical Building in San Diego's Balboa Park is complete and open to the public! Although small, the Balboa Botanical Building boasts beautiful wooden curves and gorgeous trees, flowers, and fountains that give you a nice reprieve from the hot California sun. So happy to see it done!

Evan’s Picks:

Судно (Борис Рижий) (2018) is a post-punk song by Belarusian band Molchat Doma that draws influence from bands like New Order and Depeche. The song captures a lofi gothic atmosphere that screams 80’s.

Baby Baby (2005) by Japanese band Ging Nang Boyz is a lofi power-pop song that has an electrifying sound and undeniably catchy chorus make you feel the same intense and earnest yearning that the singer is.

The new 2025 mix of Free As A Bird by The Beatles is a fresh sounding remaster that turns what was once a pretty rough but novel bonus Beatles track into a solid and enjoyably crisp sounding song. The song was originally a 70’s John Lennon demo that was added to by the three surviving Beatles at the time, produced by ELO’s Jeff Lynne, made for their first Anthology compilation album. With the release of Anthology 4 coming soon and the release of Now And Then last year, it's an exciting time to be a Beatles fan!

That's going to be all for this edition of Momo Mail, I hope that you all enjoyed it!

With Love,
Evan (Momo) <3
